I had the opportunity to go to the Dark Days Tour on Wednesday at the Provo Library. The event was hosted by the wonderful King’s English Bookshop. This is the second time I’ve had the chance to attend the Dark Days Tour. I loved the first time, but I think this one takes the cake because of the energy between the authors and how well they played off each other. It was quite entertaining!
At our stop on the tour, we had authors Dan Wells, promoting Fragments; Kiersten White, promoting Mind Games; Brodi Ashton, promoting Everbound; Debra Driza, promoting her debut book Mila 2.0; Claudia Gray promoting Spellcaster; and Lauren Oliver, promoting Requiem.

I was really excited to attend this signing because I missed the launch party for Everbound and the one for Endlessly. Not only did I really want Everbound signed and to say hi to Brodi, I also really wanted a signed copy of Endlessly to match the rest of series. So, I was able to get Everbound, Endlessly, Mind Games, and Partials signed.
Each of the authors introduced themselves and talked a little bit about each of their books. Then, it was just one big Q&A. The Q&A was great, though, because like I said above, the authors just bounced off each other. Here are some of the tweets I sent during the Q&A:
- At @ProvoLibrary listening to @TheDanWells talking about Flips, a German treat he brought for us. #pitchdarkdays (They were like Cheetos, but they tasted like peanuts instead of cheese.)
- Now listening to @kierstenwhite talk about how her sisters are scared of her now because of #MindGames. #pitchdarkdays
- We were all rolling with laughter listening to @Brodiashton at#pitchdarkdays.
- . @thedanwells likes being able to cross-pollinate with other authors’ readers. #pitchdarkdays
- It was cathartic to write a psychotic character, according to@kierstenwhite. #pitchdarkdays
- . @brodiashton loves grape hi-chews and buys them at a gas station.#seebrodisrecentblogpostaboutprednisone #pitchdarkdays (Brodi’s blog post is here.)
- I drink caffeine-fee Dr. Pepper, says @kierstenwhite as she shakes her head no. #onlyinutah #pitchdarkdays
- . @Brodiashton kept rebuilding Earth. She’s missing the world-building bone. #pitchdarkdays
- Denver is @thedanwells least favorite place in the world. He really wanted to see it destroyed in the apocalypse. #pitchdarkdays
- Thinking about @kierstenwhite‘s husband is how #thedanwells gets through writing romantic scenes. #pitchdarkdays
After the Q&A session, there was a massive signing that took place. While I was getting Partials signed, I spoke to Dan Wells about living in Germany. He said he loved it! I’m glad to hear that because I’ve always wanted to move there and now that I know it really is a good place to live, I want to live there more. I was really excited that Kiersten White recognized me from the last signing at the Provo Library. And, I was, of course, super excited to see Brodi, give her a hug, and get my book signed. (I also got to see Brodi’s mom, Valynne Maetani, and Emily Wing Smith, which was awesome.)
I usually wish there was more time at these events to socialize, but this time I actually had quite a bit of time to socialize, which really great. I was the first in the line and was shortly joined by Marissa from Rae Gun Ramblings and her friend and sister. I got to meet a Twitter buddy, Megan (@PoseySessions). I also got to see and say goodbye to Diana from Book Adeventures; she’s moving soon. And, I got to sit by some of my blogger buddies: Suey from It’s All About Books, Jenny from Alternate Readality, Enna Isilee from Squeaky Books, Kami from Kami’s Library Thoughts, Kathy from Read This Instead, and Emily from Emily’s Reading Room.
After the event, a few bloggers (Suey, her daughter, Jenny, and Kami) and I got some food. We went to JCW’s a local hamburger joint. I had a grilled cheese sandwich; it was pretty good. We talked about movies, actors, books, and the event of course, and stayed out way past our bedtime. It was lots of fun!
All in all, it was a fabulous event and a really good time!
