On Tuesday, I had the chance to go to the Blackmore Release Reception put on my The King’s English Bookshop with Suey (It’s All About Books) and Kami (Kami’s Library Thoughts).
When we arrived, there was a line, which was a little bit different from any other signing I’ve been to at The King’s English. Usually, you can walk right in to the art gallery a couple of doors down and find a seat. Somehow, however, Suey, Kami, and Carrie were let in. I wasn’t because I saw some of my SLTA buddies and wanted to say hi. So, while Suey, Kami, and Carrie covertly got into the gallery, I was chit chatting with my peeps.
The reason for the line was that this wasn’t your typical book release party. It was a book release reception. We were asked to mingle with everyone, which ended up being people mostly mingling in the groups they came with, for 30 minutes and then Julianne Donaldson would sign books. It was kind of fun to mingle because I saw quite a few friends and book bloggers there. And, I even had one of my readers introduce herself and say hi. (Hi Jenny! Hope your name is spelled with a y. If not, sorry! *waves*) One of her friends even noticed we have the same glasses! Great minds think alike, I say.
Also, while we were mingling and waiting for the signing, Suey, Kami, Carrie and I stalked the two male models, posing as Philip and Henry, so we could get our picture taken with them.
We were in signing group B, so we didn’t have to wait too long to have our books signed. I let Julie know that I love Edenbrooke, especially the last chapter and a half, and I couldn’t wait to read Blackmoore.
We kind of have a tradition of going out to eat at JCW’s after the signings, but since we were in Salt Lake and there was no JCW’s nearby, we went to Noodles and Company. This was my first time and I’ll be eating there again! Oh my word, the food was so yummy! Plus, the drink dispensers are magic and they have raspberry lime Hi-C and it was delicious.
All in all, I had a great time! It was fun to go with Suey and Kami. And, it was fun to say hi to all my other friends and meet new people. I always wish I have more time to mingle at these events and even though I got that at this one, it still wasn’t enough!
