A to Z Bookish Survey

I saw this survey on Susan’s blog Bloggin’ ’bout Books, which she grabbed from The Perpetual Page-Turner. It looked like a fun survey and since I love surveys, I had to do it!

AtoZsurvey

Author you’ve read the most books from:

That honor goes to Mary Higgins Clark. Before I was a huge reader, I did enjoy reading her books occasionally. I’ve read 14 of them, double what I’ve read of any other author’s.

Best sequel ever:

I think Everbound by Brodi Ashton is the best sequel ever. I loved it! You learn so much about all the characters and it could almost stand on its own.

Currently reading:

The Book Thief by Markus Zusak and A Different Blue by Amy Harmon

Drink of choice while reading:

I don’t really drink or eat while I read. But, if I did it’d probably be water or Gatorade since those seem to be my drinks of choice as of late.

E-reader or physical book:

I like both. I read more physical books than I do on my Kindle. But, I love my Kindle!

Fictional character you probably would have actually dated in high school:

I would’ve liked to date Edward Cullen, Jasper Hale, Cricket Bell, Etienne St. Claire, Jack Caputo, WW Hale, and Daniel Kalbi, but I probably actually would’ve dated Simon Lewis or Eric Yorkie (non-movie versions).

Glad you gave this book a chance:

The Golden Compass by Philip Pullman

Hidden gem book:

Dragon Prince by Melanie Rawn

Important moment in your reading life:

Reading Twilight. If I hadn’t read Twilight, I wouldn’t have started reading for real, met a whole bunch of awesome friends through the Twilight Lexicon, or started a blog and consequently met awesome friends through it.

Just finished:

The Actor and the Housewife by Shannon Hale

Kinds of books you won’t read:

I won’t read anything in the erotica genre. I don’t like stories that revolve around graphic sex. I don’t mind sex in books, but I don’t want to read about what pleasured him or her and I don’t want the story to be based on sex. I love romance, but I like there to be some meat (no pun intended) to the plot. And, I think the tension before sex is much more fun to read than the sex act.

Longest book you’ve read:

I guess The Old Testament is the longest book I’ve ever read. After that, it’d be Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.

Major book hangover because of:

Between Shades of Gray by Ruta Sepetys. It was just a lot to think about.

Number of bookcases you own:

I own five but I need more.

One book you have read multiple times:

I’ve read Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban five times. It and the first four books in the Harry Potter series tie for first place (other than scriptural text).

Preferred place to read:

Quote that inspires you/gives you all the feels from a book you’ve read:

“It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live.” (Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone)

Reading regret:

I wish I had read more when I was young. I’ve missed out on a lot of good books and reading. But, I’m determined to catch up.

Series you started and need to finish (all books are out in the series):

I haven’t read Clockwork Princess yet. I love this series and I can’t wait to know how it ends and, yet, I still haven’t read the final book because other things keep getting in the way.

Three of your all-time favorite books:

Harry Potter and the Deathly HallowsDune, and Fox in Socks

Unapologetic fangirl for:

I was for Stephenie Meyer until this article came out.

Very excited for this release more than all the others:

City of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Clare

Worst bookish habit:

I don’t really have any bad bookish habits. I use bookmarks, I take good care of my books, etc. (Updated: I guess reading my Kindle in the bathtub is a bad habit according to the comments, lol.)

X marks the spot (start at the top left of your shelf and pick the 27th book):

City of Ashes by Cassandra Clare

Your latest book purchase:

Blackmoore by Julianne Donaldson

Zzz-snatcher book (last book that kept you up way late):

The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern
